Long before coffee became a global ritual, it was already part of my daily life.

The Founder
Yilkal Truneh
Born from a deep passion for sharing Ethiopia's incredible coffee heritage with the world. Yilkal founded Sina Coffee with a simple belief: great coffee should be accessible to everyone.
The Roots
Where Coffee Was Home
My mother owned a coffee farm in Gimbi, and in our home coffee was never rushed. It was prepared with intention, shared in community, and respected for the journey it took to reach the cup.
As a teenager, I often helped prepare it myself, sometimes grinding beans using traditional tools, other times with early electric grinders. Those quiet moments taught me something I carry to this day: extraordinary coffee begins at origin.

The Highlands
A Life Shaped by Coffee Lands
Between 1995 and 1998, I lived in Ethiopia's Sidama region, an area now celebrated worldwide for producing coffees of remarkable clarity and character. Years later, Sidama would become one of the origins proudly featured by Sina Coffee.
Returning in 2024, I walked those farms again, this time not as a resident, but as a steward of relationships built on trust and shared standards. Standing beneath coffee trees heavy with ripe cherries, I was reminded that great coffee is never accidental. It is cultivated with patience, knowledge, and care.

The Craft
From Apprenticeship to Mastery
My professional path began at what was then Addis Ababa's pioneering specialty roaster, a place where I developed a disciplined understanding of roasting and the delicate balance required to reveal a coffee's true character. That foundation would shape everything that followed.
Later, I founded my own coffee brand in Sudan, supplying one of the country's most respected retailers, proof that authenticity and quality resonate across cultures. Yet the vision continued to grow.
The Relationships

Today, Sina Coffee is built on direct relationships with farmers, partnerships strengthened not through transactions, but through presence. I believe the finest coffees emerge when producers and roasters share the same uncompromising standards.
These relationships allow us to select coffees with intention and roast them with the restraint they deserve. Never to mask their identity. Only to reveal it.

Now Roasted in Virginia, Guided by Heritage
Bringing this lifelong journey to the United States, I founded Sina Coffee to connect discerning coffee drinkers with origins I have known not just professionally, but personally. Every bag reflects decades of immersion in coffee culture, from Ethiopian highlands to modern American roasting.
This is not trend-driven coffee. It is coffee shaped by history, experience, and reverence for the craft.
